A knitting Loom

I just started playing with my Christmas present from hubby, love it.
It's a knitting loom, he even helped me pick out yarn, it was like being in a candy store, it was fun watching him look at all the selections.

So I made my hubby the very first item, one of a kind  with learning booboo's and all, a cute little coaster, that was supposed to be a wash cloth, which still could be, but he wants it as a coaster.

Now I am working on a scarf, it is around 1/4 done. Having fun with the new gift, very interesting little gadget.

Christmas at Grandma's House

Christmas at grandma's was a wonderful time of the year, it was all handmade from scratch.
we made stuffed stars, candy canes, stockings for the tree and we strung up  pop corn on sewing thread for garland, climbed tree's to pick the kissing bush as grandma called it, and made a Angel for the top of the tree.

After all that was done we went to the kitchen, made pies, cakes and decorated sugar cookies, which the sugar cookies got a little messy so we always saved that to be last.

Grandma always said that to have Love is to Love Jesus, since it is his Birthday we sung happy birthday to him, along with other Christmas songs, Grandpa and uncles would get out their guitars and the songs begin.
So today I try to bring what my grandma thought me, to our Christmas now to keep the tradition going.

I love the meaning of Christmas... Merry Christmas to all and have a blessed New Year.

In the family

I made some baby shower gifts for a family member, she loved the items. She also wanted to know how my shop was going, she asked questions and I answered, then I found out she wants to do sewing and crafting, that is so awesome.
I cant wait till she gets started, just wish we lived closer so we could work together sometime doing a craft show. I am sending her some patterns, so she can get started doing something she loves.

Roller Skating

I wanted to learn to roller skate so bad as a child, with them plastic skates and California sidewalks.
The sidewalks had  a small crack line to a big crack line across them where they were put together.

Every time I stood up on those skates I would fall, finally I got that down, then off to start roller skate, well that didn't go so well I would fall get back up, fall get back up again, those big crack lines on those side walks made me fall more times then I could count.
So as a child I got so mad I threw those plastic skates the last time I fell, didn't want no part in that falling again... But the desire to skate and succeed was just too strong inside me, yep you guessed it, I got back into those skates and kept trying until I succeeded. I went on to win races at the local skating rinks and winning competitions.

Rollerskating is like our handmade shops, it was a dream each one of us had, we fell and got back up and tried again and again until one day we each seen our dream and desire come to life, so we never give up learning to succeed, don't let the cracks in life slow you down, hurdle them to win your dream. Thank you Kallie

Popcorn around the Christmas tree

I remember when my Grandma would make popcorn and we sat for hours stringing it to put on the Christmas tree, we had so much fun laughing and singing Christmas songs.

I passed this tradition on to my kids, along with letting them take beads and make a strand and cutting out stockings, hearts, stars and little bears and we all hand sewn  them, stuff them and then decorate them. The stitches wasn't perfect, but they sure was specially handmade.

We did this each year as they grew up, now that there out on there own, they have all there ornaments they made except a few that I kept for our tree, to put on there's.

Family love, laughter and singing songs and passing on traditions is what our Christmas was about, until one day our little son said mom dad instead of just saying Merry Christmas and Happy Birthday to Jesus He needs a birthday cake too, so that tradition was started too.

It's Raining Life

I have always loved the rain, as a child growing up I often thought it was God having a big cry at something he was sad about. As a pre-teen I just liked playing in it.

Now I love it because it brings life to so many people and  things, Its amazing on what drops of water from the sky brings.... life to us.

Relaxed Weekend

I had a great weekend worked on some new embroidery designs on Saturday morning.
Made two sets of embroidery baby burp cloths, they are ready to list.

Saturday evening had a relaxing time watching movies with my husband.

Well on Sunday my brother came over and we watched some oldies we grew up with
Wagon Train I don't think these old 1 hour shows will ever get to old for me.
Then Sunday night I watched a scary true movie that never has been solved, that was a little too scary for me.

I really liked goofy off this weekend, took some time for me to relax.

A matter of choice.

When we stop learning we  stop succeeding. When we give up  we fail.

Keep learning to succeed. Keep trying to win.

I choose to run this race to win and to keep learning from others so I can succeed.
thanks kallie

35 years ago my grandma tought me to sew straight lines on a quilt, which was really not very straight. So I thought I was a lost cause, not my grandma she always told me to never give up.
Now at 30 years ago I sat down to make my first real baby outfit which I still have in my keep sake box.
first I cut it out, then I started sewing it, it looked a little funny.
So I called my sister in law and told her what I did and it looked funny, she started laughing and said I did the same thing when I first started sewing.
To make this funny story short.... I sewed the legs for the bottom and the shirt needed extra at the shoulders and I forgot to cut facings. I fixed the shorts, and just edged stitched around the shirt and added extra at shoulders. The mistake never held me back from learning how to sew.
I never gave up I kept learning more until one day my mom and sister in law wanted me to put my stuff in the state fair with them, to see if we could win a ribbon and money.
Well we did I won all 1st place ribbons and still have those ribbons. My mom and sister in law won 2ND and 3rd. I give the credit to my grandma who never gave up on me.
So as life goes on I still push myself to make the best handmade gifts, if I don't like it, it does not get sold, I will make a new one.

Gifts

Gifts come in many packages, shapes and sizes. Many times they are not noticed or heard. They are there just the same, in words we use, acts of kindness and just for the simple I Love You. Gifts from you are the best gifts of all.

Talent you were given

I have often wondered why I was given a talent of looking at something or seeing a thought come alive on paper, making that pattern, to make the project, it is amazing to see the finished item. I will always wonder why, but it is my talent and I choose to create something handmade and special Just like my Grandma always said she said love is special when you make it.
